Healthcare providers, caregivers, exhibitors and senior citizens will gather by the dozens as the Capital District hosts two lifestyle expos this fall that will offer information and resources to seniors and their families.
The Senior Lifestyle Expo and the Senior Services of Albany’s annual Capital Region Senior Expo are geared specifically and completely toward older adults. Both expos address questions and concerns seniors and families may have about the future, such as finding a reputable and reliable caregiver, setting up homes and apartments with proper equipment and resources and general health concerns. Health care providers, senior services and assisted living representatives will be available at both expos.
Senior Services of Albany returns with their 22nd annual Senior Lifestyle Expo. This year’s expo will be held on Oct. 4 at Crossgates Mall on the lower level from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Exhibitors will “cater to the 60-plus population and their families” and provide services and products relevant for seniors. Sponsored this year by CDPHP, the presenting sponsor, and Price Chopper, the Senior Services Expo usually sees a crowd of three thousand or more.
“The goal of the Expo is to provide valuable information on products, programs and services available to seniors and their family members in the Capital Region,” said Teresa Riley, Capital District Senior Expo coordinator.
Although the SSA Expo is still in the planning stages, people can expect to also see vendors offering products and information for seniors. While the list of exhibitors is still growing, as of right now it includes MVP Health Care, Daughters of Sarah, The Pines at Hartwood, Hear for You and many more. And, as usual, the SSA Expo will feature live entertainment throughout the day, from dancers to singers and musicians.
“There will be exhibitors on hand who may provide a variety of health screenings,” Riley said. Exhibitors may provide such things as blood pressure checks, hearing related tests, flu shots and more. Admission is free. For questions about the SSA Senior Expo, contact the Senior Services of Albany at 465-3325.
